Community Garden: Proposals & Plants

Imagine a space where residents of the Lisgar/Meadowvale area can drop in on weekends and interact with other members of the community while working on a garden for the community.

The Many Feathers Garden is a collaborative and educational project that aims to grow our ties to the community. We hope to build an environment that people of all ages will be able to work together on the creation of a sustainable long lasting community garden. The Many Feathers Garden aims to grow connections between various groups in the community and to allow people to access organic produce.

We have started the ground work, we have a space (40 x 20) , and are currently working on the proposal to perfect the project and make sure we have the resources we need. We plan to start the real dirty work - the soil prep and planting early spring. We will continue to update and record goings on at the garden as they happen.

The plan for the first year to start small and plant enough to give the organic produce to volunteers and to local food banks.

We want to establish educational workshops that allow residents of any age to plant staple crops in their yards or in planters within their homes!

To achieve these goals we need to have a dedicated team of volunteers of 5-10 people to work on the garden on a schedule. To get there we need to start reaching out to residents through word of mouth, social media, and the occasional flyer.

Stay tuned for updates, and reach out to us if you want to volunteer with the Many Feathers Garden, e-mail Sarah at
